Cryopreservation of ovarian tissue has been developed in order to preserve fertility in young women submitted in gonadotoxic therapy(such as Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy) and in women with decreasing ovarian reservation who want to preserve their function of ovary. A thin sample of the cortical region of the ovary can be obtained by laparoscopy. Freeze banking of the ovarian cortex offers the potential to restore natural fertility by autografting the thawed tissue onto orthotopic sites.
